I had the opportunity to ask Lisa, the owner of my favourite female only sneaker store KICKSLOVE some questions ✨✨ KICKSLOVE is London’s newest female only sneakerhead store, and their aim is to offer us girls something more limited and rare, in a store that was designed with sneaker culture at the heart of it. The store is located in the newly redeveloped Deptford Market Yard, right under Deptford Railway Station.

I first found out about KICKSLOVE when I photographed an editorial with them in collaboration with THRDS before the store had opened. A few months later I went to see the store when it was complete and I loved everything about it. I love how Lisa has thought about every last detail, there is a corner dedicated to sneaker literature, full of books and magazines such as Hypebeast and Sneaker Freaker, there is even a KICKSLOVE clothing collection which is soo cute, as well as lots of other clothing brands including Fila and House of Holland. Even the floor has been created by local graffiti artist INSA, incorporating the KICKSLOVE colours black and gold. Lisa is so lovely and she is what makes the store what it is, it’s worth going to the store just to have a chat with her!

Read my Q&A with Lisa below to find out a bit more about KICKSLOVE and what we can look forward to..

When did you first think about opening a sneaker store?
Really quite some time ago, it’s been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, it was just about the right moment in my life and in the market to take the leap!

When the idea of the shop became a reality, did you always imagine it would be in London?
Yeah I always wanted there to be a female sneakerhead destination in LDN as being a sneakerhead myself I was very aware of the lack of female sneaker specific stores, so for that reason I wanted to create one.

Was it always going to be women’s only from the start?
Yes I always wanted it to be women’s from the very get go, due to the lack of female sneakerhead stores in LDN.

What do you think Deptford brings to the store?
I think Deptford brings an element of discovery to the store, a lot of Londoners are unaware of the recently revamped Deptford Market Yard and its proximity to Cannon St and London Bridge, therefore it makes people seek it out and maybe travel from there borough to come see the store, Deptford has a long creative history and is surrounded by artists/musicians etc so in that respect means our customer base is varied which we love.

Finally, what’s in store for the future of KicksLove? What can we look forward to?
You can look forward to KICKSLOVE continue to bring new footwear brands for women, which include special editions kicks and collabs packs offered in store as well as culturally relevant events and there maybe our first footwear collab with a very cool brand coming at the end of the year so keep your eyes peeled for that one.
